Individualized Lessons
At Crenshaw Tutoring & Enrichment, lessons are personalized for your child because learning is not a one size fits all endeavor. All children can learn, and they learn in different ways. I prioritize getting to know you and your child during our first few sessions. I use information I gather about your child’s preferences, learning styles, stamina, and current skills to develop learning experiences that are engaging and also designed to assist your child in advancing their knowledge, skills, and ability to be successful in school.
Tutoring sessions can be private (your student is the only one in the session) or semi-private (your student could be joined by up to three other students who are working on similar skills). Sessions are 50 minutes long. The last ten minutes of each hour include a fun cool down activity (student’s choice) and a few minutes for me to complete notes or touch base with parents.

Quality Instruction
My name is Cat Crenshaw and I have over thirty years of experience in working with children of all ages in a variety of educational settings. I am a licensed, highly qualified public school educator in Oregon. Currently, I am teaching 5th grade in Beaverton. Having taught kindergarten through sixth grade in Oregon and in New Mexico, as well as volunteering at an international school while living abroad, I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to each session. From the thorough planning before each session, to the specifically personalized learning activities throughout the lesson, as well as the informative notes about your child’s performance and progress after each session, the instruction provided is effective and relevant. I not only know what the standards and targets are for your child’s grade level and what they’ll need to know to be successful, I also know what is coming up for them. If there are gaps in your child’s understanding, I am able to address these and help your child gain confidence and mastery of the subject matter.

Academic Subjects + Life Skills
I tutor students who have completed first grade up through the time they enter high school. I tutor students in reading and writing (English Language Arts) and can provide accelerated learning opportunities or I can provide intervention for those who need some additional time or practice. I provide math intervention and support for students up through 6th or 7th grade. In addition, I am able to provide homework support, teach study habits and skills, or help students explore more deeply a subject or area of interest. I often collaborate with parents in designing the specific learning opportunities they need. Math clubs, book studies, research projects, or bookmaking and publishing are just a few of the specialty learning opportunities I have created in the past. Additionally, I am available to teach a course called “Stop & Think” for students who have focus and impulsivity challenges.
